Utility tunnelling

As part of CENTERLINE’s many years’ activities customers came up with more and more requests and wishes for special applications which - after market researches - turned out to be hardly or not yet available.

The traditional activities of CENTERLINE GmbH concerned surveying services for microtunneling and pipe jacking projects in the range of ID1200mm to ID3800mm.

In the past manual geodetic surveying had been used to measure and navigate those drives. This method, however, is very time-consuming and thus expensive. For that reason, there was a great demand for automatic navigation systems for microtunneling. Such systems should be able to navigate a tunnel boring machine precisely and economically through the ground.

The main target of tunnelling projects is to achieve maximum daily output with maximum precision at the same time.
As a result of such considerations, a number of gyro- and laser based navigation systems have been developed by CENTERLINE GmbH.
